"Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body weight adjusted for height, and correlates with body fat. A tool for indicating weight status in adults, BMI is generally computed using metric units and is defined as weight divided by height2 or kilograms/meters.2 The categories used in this report are consistent with those set by the World Health Organization. For adults 20 years of age and over, underweight is defined as having a BMI less than 18.5; healthy weight is defi ned as having a BMI of at least 18.5 and less than 25; overweight is defined as having values of BMI equal to 25 or greater; and obese is defined as having BMI values equal to 30 or greater.
